The Asia Internet Coalition (“AIC”) and its members express our sincere gratitude to the
Government of India for the opportunity to submit comments on India’s Non-Personal Data Governance Framework. AIC is an industry association that represents leading global internet
companies on matters of public policy. To further its mission of fostering innovation,
promoting economic growth, and empowering people through the free and open internet, AIC
would like to present our comments on the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 to the Joint
Select Committee (“JSC”).In the month of July 2020, an Expert Committee (“Committee”) as constituted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (“MEITY”) released the Non-Personal Data Governance Framework (“NPD Report”). In this regard, we are grateful to be able to present our comments and recommendations on the same, and would also like to re-state our continuous support and assistance to the Indian government in its efforts to bring about this transformational change in the privacy landscape in India.
