Thailand has approved a draft bill requiring foreign digital service providers that earn more than THB 1.8 million (USD 57,434.59) per year from providing digital services in the country to pay a 7 percent value-added tax (VAT) on sales. The AIC is concerned that this new draft bill will lead to increased costs for Thai consumers and will hurt Thai SMEs that rely on global platforms to do business. The AIC released the attached statement to the media.
