The Asia Internet Coalition (AIC) submitted comments to the Digital Market Competition Headquarters and its core members including Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) for allowing on ‘Approaches to a Bill on Improving Transparency of Transactions of Digital Platform Operators.’ First and foremost, we commend the Japanese Government in formulating a bill to bolster regulations on domestic and global information technology giants and protect consumers’ privacy. We also appreciate and understand the government’s motivation to enact a new law this year to ensure transparency in business transactions with major technology companies. We believe that this is a timely initiative as the economies and companies become more digital in nature.
